A unique ed instructor's #1 pick!

I am a unique polish instructor and just finished my Masters degree in unique polish, learning disabilities. I have seen a variety of materials and resources out there to help students with unique needs. I find that techniques and methods used for my students also subsidy the non-disabled students. But it is not enough to buy the latest crazed method or item. To truly subsidy children, it must be research based with evidence of it's effectiveness.

Let me tell you, this book is incredible! The thing I like the most is that research backs up teaching young children sign foreign Foreign language. There have been abundant studies in print in prestigous journals that grant evidence that children who are delayed in foreign Foreign language can improve their oral foreign Foreign language by learning nonverbal communication systems (www.asha.org, 2004). This can only subsidy children who get your hands on foreign Foreign language at a normal rate.

I started teaching my baby girl sign foreign Foreign language at 8 months. Small did I know that at 2 years ancient, she would be delayed in her foreign Foreign language ability. She uses her signs to prompt what she wants along with her words.

I wish I had this book back then! The signs are fun, functional and occur in everyday life. The music is outstanding..you hear a WIDE variety... from calypso, people to even an elvis type singer. The songs make you want to get up and go. They teach children how to communciate their needs in a fun way...how to question for more food, types of foods, types of animals, being paid hurt, body parts, transportation and asking for a diaper change! Some of the songs are really amusing..like the elvis one. You won't get burnt out on this one...it has 20 different songs! The book provides the lyrics and examples of the signs used in the songs. It's really simple to follow and be with you, even if you have no background in sign foreign Foreign language. I would HIGHLY urge this book/CD to every family. You never know, your child might really need it later down the line if you find them delayed in their foreign Foreign language. Delight in!!

Really excellent ASL explanations

You can pop the CD into your computer and watch a video of one of the songs being signed, as well as tips on working with children.

The cinema look like they were rendered in Poser, so they are more clear than many books with photos or drawn images. A few signs have could be perplexing due to a lack of explanation to go with the depiction, but.

It had excellent information about ASL classifiers, which was a delightful and unexpected bonus.

The music CD was like listening to terrible knockoffs of excellent songs, but after you listen to them long enough, you get used to it.

Incredible for Parents and Kids

The music on this CD is well worth the price whether you sign with your kids or not.

When I place the CD in, my 20-month ancient son's ears perked up. Since the first time we listened, I find him singing the songs to himself. He will stand alone and sing a few words from "More Milk" or the "Oowww" song (he still is kind of monotone so it sounds really cute). The first time he sang "More Milk," I thought he was hungry. He also likes the "Go to the Zoo" song.

But if you do sign with kids, the CD adds a second dimension that is incredible. My son has been signing for about 10 months. Even though he talks more than signs now, he has loved learning some new signs and using the ancient ones he know along with new songs. The Endeavor Guide is incredible and guides you through how to sign the songs.

The songs also have amusing lines for parents so you'll be laughing as you all dance. One of the songs about varying diapers has amusing commentary in the background.

This is one of the best buys I made for both me and my son.

Pick Me Up is what signing families have been waiting for!!!

I have been signing with my daughter for 3 years now, since she was 6 months ancient. Signing along with songs has always been a pet endeavor of ours and has helped us both to learn and remember hundreds of signs. The 'PICK ME UP' CD and Acitivty guide are an answer to a prayer!!!! Even if it had no signing or endeavor guide it would still be worth it's wait in gold for the fantastic children's music. WITH the signing events it is just priceless! My daughter talks our ears off now, so no longer needs to use signs to communicate with us, but she Likes to dance her small butt off as she signs along with this CD.
By the way-- this music has children's lyrics but does not sound like sappy childrens music. It won't drive you crazy after you hear it numerous hundred times in the car (as you steer with your forhead while signing).Way to go Sign with your Baby!!!
Brilliant CD and Book

I just got this and am listining to it as I write! The songs on this are wonderful! They are original and not a repetition of the classic childrens songs which is refreshing! It has managed to entertain all of my children 2, 3.5 and 5 years ancient. The illustrations in the book are simple to follow and supplement the Sign With Your Baby learning kit wonderfully! I thought it was to pricey at first but had used Sign with Your Baby so I wanted to at least try it and the book quality alone is worth the money. I am very impressed with the over all quality of both the songs and the book.
